Establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with our clients is our number one priority. It is important to us that each person involved in the horse’s treatment is made fully aware of the horse’s condition, as well as all diagnostic and treatment methods. This approach leads to the best possible health management for the horse, as well as the quickest possible recovery from any disease or injury. Further, we believe in an all-encompassing approach to equine care that includes education, prevention, conventional therapy and acupuncture. Our staff is available for emergency calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we provide full-time farm call service.
Massachusetts Equine Clinic

Our Practice

Massachusetts Equine Clinic is a full-service, multi-veterinarian equine ambulatory practice with haul-in capabilities, established in 1985 by Dr. Jay Merriam.
Since then, the clinic has grown into a five-doctor team supported by a well-established internship program. We serve a wide variety of equine disciplines and pride ourselves on building long-term, trust-based relationships with our clients—ensuring they are fully informed at every step of diagnostics and treatment.
We offer 24/7 emergency coverage, reliable farm-call services, and a broad spectrum of care ranging from general wellness to advanced diagnostics, sports medicine, field surgery, reproduction, and some hospital-based services. Our mission is to treat every horse as if it were our own, delivering compassionate, professional, and excellent veterinary care while mentoring the next generation of equine practitioners.
