Gastroscopy & Endoscopy

Gastric ulcers are prevalent in a large percentage of the equine population. Gastric ulcers can be classified as either squamous (non-glandular) or glandular. Treatment for gastric ulcers is complicated, and gastroscopy allows us to determine what type of ulcers your horse has and come up with an appropriate treatment plan.

Gastroscopy

Horses are prone to digestive issues, including Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS)—a common condition caused by stomach acid damaging the stomach lining. At our clinic, we offer gastroscopy, the only definitive way to diagnose gastric ulcers.

Gastroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a camera to examine your horse’s stomach and identify ulcers or other abnormalities. Early diagnosis allows for targeted treatment and management, improving your horse’s comfort, health, and performance. We also provide guidance on feeding and management strategies to support long-term gastric health.

Endoscopy

Horses are prone to respiratory issues that can impact their health and performance, including conditions affecting the upper airway and lungs. At our clinic, we offer endoscopy as a valuable diagnostic tool to evaluate these concerns.

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a camera to examine your horse’s upper airway, including the nasal passages, throat, and trachea, allowing us to identify inflammation, structural abnormalities, mucus accumulation, or other issues.

Early diagnosis allows for targeted treatment and management, helping improve your horse’s comfort, breathing, and overall performance. We also provide guidance on environmental and management strategies to support long-term respiratory health.
